About Us

Founded in 2013 Northwest Water Polo Club (NWPC) offers water polo training and competition for athletes of all ages and skill levels throughout the Seattle, Bellevue and Mercer Island areas. Run by committed coaches with NCAA experience Northwest focuses on developing participants fundamental water polo skills while preparing players for high school, national, and collegiate level competition. Since 2013 the club has grown from 30 members to over 500 participants while placing numerous athletes on USAWP national team and NCAA rosters.

Our Vision
Create a self-sustaining, nationally competitive water polo club by developing athletes of all ages and skills in and out of the water, competing at national and local tournaments, and preparing athletes to compete at the collegiate level.

Our Mission
Create a positive learning environment for athletes and parents where commitment, teamwork and a strong work ethic are highly valued. Northwest Water Polo Club's coaches will motivate, develop, and mentor athletes to achieve excellence individually and collectively, in and out of the water. Northwest will help grow water polo throughout the Pacific Northwest region while being recognized for knowledgeable coaches and fundamentally sound, respectful, and competitive athletes.

Goals
- Grow water polo in the Pacific Northwest
- Develop athlete's fundamental skills and knowledge of water polo
- Create a nationally competitive, sustainable water polo program
- Consistently move athletes on to college programs
- Help guide future leaders with world class character

14u and 16u boys teams placed 1st at PNW Junior Olympic Qualifiers
Seven athletes named USAWP Academic All-Americans

2017
14u boys, 14u girls, 12u boys and 18u girls placed 1st at PNW Junior Olympic Qualifiers
14u boys placed 4th in the gold division at the Junior Olympics
Five athletes named USAWP Academic All-Americans

2018
Two athletes on 
USA Water Polo national teams: Finn Friedland - Development Team and Alex Marlow - Futures Team
16u boys placed 1st at PNW Junior Olympic Qualifiers
Northwest 16u boys team finished 17th in the platinum division at the Junior Olympics

2019 
Two athletes on USAWP national teams: Finn Friedland - Futures Team and Ramzi Megalli - Development Team
All Northwest teams placed 1st at PNW JO qualifiers with the 18u boys, 16u boys, 14u boys and 16u girls teams winning their brackets
14u Boys won the 2019 USA Water Polo Golden State Invitational
Northwest 12u coed team finished 9th in the platinum division at the Junior Olympics
Northwest 14u boys team finished 3rd in the gold division at the Junior Olympics
Seven athletes earned USAWP Outstanding Academic All-American Honors (4.0 GPA)

2020
16u boys placed 2nd at Orange County Cup
​Fourteen athletes named USAWP Academic All-Americans

2021
16u boys placed 2nd in the platinum division at the Junior Olympics (Session III)
18u girls placed 12th in the platinum division at the Junior Olympics (Session III)
Six athletes named 2021 Junior Olympics All-Americans: Finn Friedland, Ramzi Megalli - 1st team  Austin Quick, Kevin Zhang - 2nd team   Jamie Chin, Aura Baker - Honorable Mention
