Our Coaches

Marco Stanchi - 18u Boys

Graduating from Bellevue’s International School in 2015, Marco was part of Bellevue High School's State Championships three years running. Marco's accomplishments during high school include 2013 Cadet National Team Selection, 2014 Youth National Team Selection, a Gold Medal at the Pan American Championships, and participation in the Youth World Championships.

 After graduation from International School, Marco moved on to Stanford University where he played varsity Water Polo for 4 years, competing in the NCAA Championships all while majoring in Computer Science.  After graduating from Stanford, Marco played professional Water Polo in Italy for two years. 

Marco returned to WA to coach Bellevue High School in 2022 and most recently, coached the 18u boys to a 1st place finish in the Gold bracket at the 2023 Junior Olympics.


Adam Jacobson - Executive Director & 16u boys

Coach Adam grew up playing water sports since age 6. A triple sport athlete at Mercer Island high school lettering in water polo, swimming, and soccer Adam's awards include a team state championship with MIHS swim and water polo and a 2nd place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. Senior year, Adam earned the Brett Storie scholarship, for the aquatic athlete who exemplifies “inspiration, enthusiasm, drive and focus, sportsmanship, and self-improvement” and the United States Marine Core distinguished athlete award for the HS athlete who best displays “courage, poise, self-confidence, and leadership”. In 2017 Coach Adam guided the NWPC 14u boys to a 4th place finish in the gold bracket (28th overall) at the USA Water Polo Junior Olympics. In 2018 coach Adam led the 16u boys to a then club best 17th place finish in the platinum division at the Junior Olympics. In 2021 Coach Adam coached the 16u boys to a 2nd place finish in the platinum bracket at the Junior Olympics. 


Vee Valle - Communications Director & 14u Boys

Coach Vee grew up playing water polo in southern California. Native of San Diego, Vee started playing at the age of 7 with Mira Mesa College. From there she played club polo for San Diego Shores, attending several Junior Olympics. As a player for Mar Vista High School coach Vee earned rookie of the year honors, coaches award and back to back MVP's. Vee was a team captain all four years of high school, leaving Mar Vista with the most five meter blocks in program history, earning several athlete of the week and all-conference honors. Coach Vee is also the head coach of the Mt. Tahoma Womens Water Polo team. 


Daniel Kavesh - 18u & 16u Boys

Daniel started playing water polo at the age of 13. He went on to play at Mercer Island High School while being on one of the inaugural teams at NWPC. At Mercer Island, he achieved 1st team all-state honors, was captain of the Varsity team, earned MVP, and was an Academic All-American. Daniel continued his water polo career at Chapman University, where he played all four years and graduated with a degree in Economics and a minor in Data Analytics.

Daniel currently works with our High School Boys and is the head coach of the Mercer Island High School Boy's water polo team


Alicia Nordal - 18u & 16u girls

Alicia started playing water polo her freshman year at Mercer Island High School. As a 4-year varsity athlete on both the swim and water polo teams, Alicia earned many honors including Most Improved, MVP, Coach’s award, First Team All State, Academic All American, and voted captain of the water polo team her junior and senior year. Alicia was an inaugural member of the NWPC 18u girls team and attended NWPC's first JOs in 2014. Alicia was recruited to play Division III water polo and attended a semester at Occidental College. She later transferred to Seattle University where she grew the college’s club water polo team, doubling the number of players, organizing scrimmages with local masters teams, and entering the club into their first competitive tournament. 


Emily Hernandez - 14u &12u GIRLS

Emily Hernandez began her water polo career as a freshman in high school. As a varsity athlete, she led Newport High School to four top three finishes and was recognized as the most improved player her sophomore year. Emily went on to receive distinctions such as second team all-state and first team all-state while also becoming team captain. Shortly after joining the sport Emily also began her time at Northwest Water Polo Club, highlighting her time with the club with a 9th place finish in the Gold bracket at the Junior Olympics. Emily continued her water polo career playing Division I at California State University, Northridge. While competing at a high level, Emily managed to receive ACWPC all academic team honors while completing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After continuing her education with a Masters of Science in Nursing from UCLA, Emily is back in Seattle, excited to be part of the Washington water polo community once again.  


Lailey Khatibloo - GIRLS (HS & Youth)

Lailey Khatibloo began playing water polo when she was 11 years old. She was an inaugural member of Northwest Water Polo Club, competing with the 16u girls at their very first Junior Olympics. Lailey also competed with Newport High School, lettering in varsity all four years. By her senior year, she was captain, 1st team all-state, team MVP and had broken records in most assists and goals. Lailey continued her education at Washington University in St Louis where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Economics and a minor in art history. She immediately became an invaluable member of her college club team, captaining her team for three years and receiving back to back CWPA player of the week awards. She is happy to be back in the Seattle area and is excited to be involved with Northwest in a new water polo chapter.





All Northwest Water Polo Club coaches are USA Water Polo certified.  USAWP certification requires coaches to pass a background check, concussion/head injury competency test, and be First Aid/CPR certified.
