Northwest Water Polo Club's 14u Boys team made waves this weekend at the San Diego County Cup hosted by San Diego Shores. County Cup features some of the best teams from across the country competing in multiple divisions and the NWPC squad represented themselves well, delivering an outstanding performance over the weekend that culminated in a 4-2 record against some of the top teams in the tournament.
The team's journey began on a high note as they secured a close 8-6 victory over SC Triton B in the opening game. The Northwest boys came up short in game two against Del Mar, dropping the contest 8-11. Despite this setback, the team did not lose heart and bounced back in style, defeating SOCAL 7-6 in the following match. In their last game of the day the 14s battled well against Newport but lost by a narrow margin of 3-5.
In the fifth game of the tournament, NWPC played strong against Shore Aquatics, putting up an 8-4 scoreline. The team’s defensive effort showed throughout the tournament, especially in their final game against Greenwich. Although the game was tightly contested, the Northwest boys ended on a strong note, winning the match 8-7.
The Northwest Water Polo Club's 14u Boys team showcased their talent and teamwork throughout the tournament. With their strong defense and offensive movement, the team effectively competed against some top teams plays and gained valuable experience playing on a national level. The squads 4-2 record is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and the players should be commended for their work ethic, commitment and competitiveness.
