Northwest Teams Earn Mixed Results at Turbo Cup

Northwest Water Polo Club recently participated in the 2023 Turbo Cup, an annual water polo tournament that brings together some of the best teams from across the country. The competition was fierce, but the Northwest Water Polo Club put up a strong fight, with the 18u, 16u, and 14u boys and the 12u coed teams all showcasing their skills in the pool.

The Northwest 18u boys team played against some tough opponents, including Newport Beach, Poway Valley Black, Rain City, and NSD Stars. Despite a valiant effort, the team experienced a couple of close losses against Newport Beach (10.5-10.6), Rain City (5.2-5.3) and NSD (5-8). However, the team earned an impressive victory against Poway Valley Black (13-10), showcasing their talent and perseverance.

The Northwest 16u boys team also faced some challenging opponents, including Poway Valley Black, Orange County WPC Red, Poway Valley Silver, and Temple City. Although the team suffered two losses against Poway Valley Black (7-17) and Orange County WPC Red (6-12), they also earned two solid victories against Poway Valley Silver (15-10) and Temple City (15-11), proving that they have what it takes to compete at a high level.

The Northwest 14u boys team also had their fair share of ups and downs during the tournament, with a win against Shores Silver (7-2) and losses against North Irvine Red (2-11) and LAWPC (7-13). However, they bounced back with an impressive victory against Vanguard 12 (6-2), demonstrating their potential and determination.

Finally, the Northwest 12u coed team had a series of closely contested matches, including a loss against LAWPC (7-13), a win against SOVA (14-12), a loss against Sand Canyon (6-11), and a victory against Del Mar (9-7). The team displayed their grit and tenacity, refusing to give up even in the face of tough opponents.

Overall, the Northwest Water Polo Club put up an admirable performance at the 2023 Turbo Cup, with each team giving their all in every match. The tournament provided a valuable learning experience for the young players, giving them the opportunity to hone their skills and compete against some of the best teams in the country.
